When people hear that over 95% of all causes of back pain cases are not because of serious conditions, they have a hard time believing it. This is because their pain seems severe, constant, and they can't remember ever doing anything to injure themselves.

"I have had this back pain for a long, long time now. I can't remember ever doing anything that would have caused all this pain. I have been to my doctor I don't know how many times."

"…Yeah, I've had x-rays and MRIs and the doctor says that they don't show anything but I know that something is wrong with me."

"All the doctor ever does is give me a prescription for pain medication. I am tired of taking pain pills. All they do is cover up the pain and make me feel dopey. They don't fix the problem. I want the problem fixed!!"

Think about this for a moment…if you have back pain, have you ever found yourself saying something like this?  Have you ever heard anyone else with back pain saying the same types of things?

This is because subconsciously you know something is causing your back pain.

Probably the most frustrating part is getting anyone, especially your doctor, to believe you and give you some kind of solution to your problem instead of just throwing pills at you.

Did you know that according to the world famous Mayo Clinic, the most common cause of back pain is because of  muscle strain?

There are other causes to be sure, but they are many time fewer in number when compared to the cases of muscular strains.

Were you aware that this is why x-rays and MRIs come back "negative" for most people?

Most people don't realize that MRIs and X-rays can't "see" muscle strains. This is reason that many doctors will tell a patient that "nothing is wrong" with them and the only treatment they can offer is a prescription for pain killers or muscle relaxers.

Unfortunately, a lot of doctors don't do a good job at explaining to their patients how a chronic muscle strain can be causing so many problems and so much pain.

But in my practice as a physical therapist this is exactly what I do with my patients. My opinion is that half the battle is won if a person really is able to understand why they are having so much pain and then what they can do about it to get rid of it.

Let me tell you about how chronic muscle strains can cause you a boatload of problems….
